৭ ই মার্চ ১৯৭১-বাংলাদেশী কমিউনিটিস ইন নাইজেরিয়া
On this day in 1971, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in a fiery and dynamic speech at Dhaka’s Race Course Maidan (now Suhrawardy Udyan) declared the decisive battle against the then repressive Pakistani junta.
At the historic gathering, the ‘Father of the Nation’ gave the most inspiring speech saying ‘Ebarer sangram amader muktir sangram, ebarer sangram swadhinatar sangram (this time the struggle is for our freedom, the struggle is for our independence)’ that echoed through the ground and the hearts of 70 million Bangalee people. In his speech, the leader and charismatic orator Sheikh Mujib called for a civil uprising and declared the war against the then Pakistani junta.
He said: ‘Since we have sacrificed blood, we will sacrifice more. We will definitely liberate the country, Insha-Allah… Turn every house into a fort and counter [the enemy] with whatever you have.’
